African Black Soap
Black soap is a handmade soap, known for being gentle and alleviating skin ailments, that has been used for centuries throughout Western Africa. It consists of a naturally-derived emollient combined with the nutrient-rich ashes of native African plant materials. Authentic African black soap from Ghana is made with hand-made potash in small batches and is not manufactured in factories with commercial potash and refined oils.
African Black Soap moisturizes as well as cleans. It is made with unrefined Shea Butter and Palm Kernel oil.
We have made this soap as close to the authentic Ghana Black Soap as possible with the same ingredients available here in the United States. The ash of plantain skins, banana leaf and moisturizing oils, including cocoa butter and Shea butter, are added at the end of the cooking process to preserve all of the vitamins and emollient and exfoliation properties.
You can use African black soap for shaving soap, body wash, facial cleanser and shampoo. It has been known to soothe skin irritations and diseases from simple rashes to contact dermatitis and psoriasis, as well as fading skin discolorations and evening out skin tone.
